Blue Star campers connect to the natural world as they experience our innovative nature program. Unique facilities, including the Nature Hut and the Harry Popkin Environmental Science and Animal Center, engage campers in hands-on learning. Our campers love feeding, petting and caring for our farm animals. Gem mining for sapphires, mica, quartz, fossils and rubies helps campers learn about geology, while feeling like they are searching for buried treasure. Planting organic vegetable and flower gardens, and learning about indigenous plants and trees, enhances campers’ knowledge of the natural world. All aspects of our Nature program help campers to develop an appreciation for the environment and a sense of responsibility to care for the earth.
